Shona Heard

Shona Heard serves as the Board Secretary of The Arms of Jesus Children’s Mission and brings a lifelong commitment to the ministry's mission and values. As the daughter of founder Pastor Sam Martin, Shona has witnessed the growth and impact of Arms of Jesus since its earliest days and remains deeply invested in its continued work around the world.

Recently retired following a 30-year career in the dental profession, Shona now contributes her experience, leadership, and dedication to the Board while continuing to support the ministry through advocacy, prayer, and service. Over the years, she has participated in mission trips to Colombia, St. Lucia, Jamaica, Kenya, and Guatemala, gaining firsthand experience of the life-changing impact of Christian missions and child sponsorship.

Since 1990, Shona and her family have sponsored six children through Arms of Jesus, witnessing the lasting difference that faithful support can make in a child's life. She is passionate about ensuring that every child has access to food, clothing, education, and, most importantly, the opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
