Cap-Rouge, Haiti
Yvesnelson Gilles is a 12 years old boy living in the area of Cap-Rouge, communal section of Jacmel, the south East of Haiti. He is a motivated student currently in the 6th grade of fundamental school where he works hard to succeed. Yvesnelson is a child who is always in good health and enjoys sports; in his free time he loves playing soccer with his friends in the neighborhood.
His father’s name is Yvonne Gilles and his mother’s name is Ranite Jean. They are both farmers who work the land with great courage but what they harvest is not enough to provide for their 5 children. An important aspect of Yvesnelson’s life is that he lives with his grandmother who makes a significant effort to support him despite the complicated circumstances. They live in a stone house with a tin roof that has only 2 rooms and is furnished with a bed, a table, and chairs.
The situation is truly difficult for the family as it has become very complicated for the parents to meet the children’s basic needs. Farming requires immense effort but does not provide enough means to properly care for the household. To access water for their needs they must collect it from cisterns and they rely on wood as their only fuel for cooking every day.
Yvesnelson as many other children are facing difficult time because he can’t get food, medical assistance, clothes and clean water to drink .This is why he’s looking for a good Samaritan to assist him and his family and that will give him a better chance for a better future while
