Shanaina Jean Baptiste is a girl who is 9 years old, born on December 1, 2016, in Cap-Rouge communal section of Cayes Jacmel, the South East of Haiti.. She is the daughter of Benito Jean Baptiste, her father and Yolanda Belizaire, her mother. Both of her parents are farmers who work the land to support their family of 3 children. Shanaina lives in Cap-Rouge with both her mother and father. She is currently in 4th grade and is a very dedicated student, who is doing very well in her schoolwork. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her sisters.

The family lives in a stone house with a tin roof and 3 rooms. Their living conditions are modest, with only a bed, a table, chairs, and a cupboard inside. They use wood for cooking and collect their water from a cistern. Despite these hardships, Shanaina remains in good health.

However, the family is facing a very difficult situation because they have 3 children to care for, which significantly increases their financial burden while their income remains very low. It has become extremely hard for the parents to meet school requirements and provide for the children’s basic needs.

Shanaina urgently needs support to obtain food, clothing, and the school supplies she needs to stay in school. This assistance is vital to ensure that a bright and hardworking girl like Shanaina can continue her education, and have a chance at a better future despite her family’s deep economic crisis.
