Mikerlda is a young girl, living in Cap Rouge, communal section of Jacmel. The south East of Haiti. She is currently 8 years old. Mikerlda is growing up in a household where her mother struggles alone to provide for her 3 children, as her father, Mikerlange Civil, works the land with very limited means. The family’s situation is very difficult because the mother lacks the economic resources to adequately meet all the children’s needs.

The family lives in a small three-room house built with concrete blocks and a tin roof. Inside, they have only the bare essentials for sleeping and eating: beds, a table, and a small area for dishes. Like many in the area, they rely on cistern water for their needs and use wood for cooking. Despite the hardships facing this small family, Mikerlda remains a healthy child.

In school, Mikerlda is a very promising student; she is in the 1st grade and performs well in her studies. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her brother and sister. She is a girl with a strong desire to learn, but she is in great need of support because her parents are facing difficult time. Assistance for Mikerlda would be a significant relief for her mother, who cannot bear the financial burden alone, and it would ensure a brighter future for this young girl.
