What You Can Do

Home

For as little as the cost of a daily coffee, you can change the life of a child. Yes, your gift will provide medical relief, clothing, food, and where possible, education. You will receive a picture of your child and regular reports and letters throughout the year.

Tips for Child Sponsors

Please send your gift monthly, quarterly, or annually, depending on what is most convenient for you. Your cheque, current, or postdated should be made payable to The Arms of Jesus Children's Mission Inc. Include your monthly remittance slip or include your child's name/number on your cheque. We feel it is important that you know how your sponsorship gift is used.

Where Your Dollar Goes
Your gift/sponsorship dollar

$1.00

Home Administration:
to help us communicate with the child and donor

$0.08

Field Administration:
to cover costs of photographs, reports, etc

$0.04

Each child then receives

$0.88

We feel sure this will be acceptable to you and is the best value for the sponsorship dollar anywhere.

Correspondence
We encourage you, as a Child Sponsor, to express your love and concern for your child by periodically sending a card or a short letter. This is a wonderful way to build a special relationship with your child. If you wish, you may enclose flat items such as stickers, bookmarks, pictures, etc. Send your correspondence to our office, and we will then forward it to the child with other mail. We ask that you are careful not to put your address on your letter or card as it is our policy not to make your address available.

Gifts
Many Child Sponsors like to send a small gift for birthdays and Christmas. We ask that if you want to send a gift, you send a monetary gift to the Arms of Jesus Office designated to your child. We will then forward it to our missionaries and they will buy a gift for your child. We recommend $10.00 or $15.00. There is a special fund in each country used for special treats for the children. This is for special occasions.

Receipts
Quarterly receipts for Revenue Canada and IRS will be issued faithfully.

How You Can Help The Children!

We do not push nor pull, but we are delighted to present ways people can help us Help Children and we are praying many will consider the following:

Child Sponsorship in Kenya, East Africa, Guatemala, and Haiti. Yes, your gift will provide for medical relief, clothing goods, and where possible, education. You will receive a picture of your child and throughout the year regular reports and letters. It is our privilege to provide needy children with a daily nutritional meal and, in some situations, a balanced education. Medical Partners in Guatemala, Providing medical help and medicine for children who are sick is a very necessary ministry for us and we are dependent upon people becoming involved as partners in this work with us. Special Needs in Guatemala Home Offices Teaching missionary children in Guatemala. We are in real need of a good vehicle (a Van) to help us in our food and clothing distribution in the country of Guatemala. The needs are growing, and as we anticipate beginning new feeding centres in "forgotten" areas, a Van is desperately needed. As we are a 'Faith Mission' we look to people to support our General Fund. This allows us to keep our administration costs minimal. Gifts can be marked 'General Fund'. Overseas Staff As our work increases, we anticipate needing more dedicated and qualified Staff who will become AOJ Missionaries. Full information and application forms can be obtained from each office. All gifts are tax deductible and all accounts of The Arms of Jesus Children's Mission are audited by a reputable firm and is a member of the Canadian Council of Christian Charities.

Work and Witness.

The Arms of Jesus Children's Mission Inc. is very happy and willing to host short-term mission teams to work and witness in Guatemala. Teams are accommodated at our centre in Antigua and are given the opportunity to build homes for the poor, distribute clothing and food to our sponsored families and to share the good news of Jesus Christ. In recent years we have hosted teams from churches of many denominations from all across North America. If you would like information on how to arrange a short-term mission team please contact our office.

Ministry Support

As a ‘Faith Mission’ we look to the Lord’s people to stand with us in the support of workers; and in 2008, we graciously acknowledge not only the individuals and families who do this, but also the following Churches:

  • Calvary Baptist Church, Kilaloo, Ontario, Canada: Workers in Haiti

  • Chartwell Baptist Church, Ontario, Canada: Workers in Guatemala

  • First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue, Washington State, USA.

  • Safe Haven Worship Centre, Pickering, Ontario, Canada: Workers in Haiti and Guatemala

  • St. Paul's on-the-Hill Anglican Church, Pickering, Ontario, Canada: Workers in Guatemala

  • The Metropolitan Bible Church, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada: Workers in Guatemala

House Building

Each year approximately 50 families receive homes. Construction is carried out by our own National workers and Ministry teams from North America. Individuals, families and companies in North America have donated the funds for one or more homes.

We are thrilled with the possibility of building homes for poor families, and an example of this is seen in the following series of pictures showing what happened over a period of three days in Guatemala. Over the first two days the foundation was laid, and construction began on the third day. The result: a family received a home.

Please be patient while the pictures download.
